When we bought our country house in rural Pennsylvania this fall, I pledged to write about the remodel we were about to undergo. I’ve written about why we’re moving to the country here; the kitchen remodel here; and the near gut job we did here, which left us with a refreshing blank slate upon which to imprint our vision.
All these months later, the transformation is starting to reveal itself. My husband, along with his uncle, has been doing the work himself, and that’s after a rather demanding full-time job in the construction industry. So life has been a little hectic (and tiring!) Up until this point, a lot of the renovation has been behind the scenes and not something that, visually at least, is so captivating to write about. We put in a new heating and cooling system, for instance, but that’s not so compelling to write about and doesn’t give a real wow factor in photographs. Electric was updated. Wires and such replaced. All of it rather important to updating a home, but not the greatest content for a remodel post.
Alas, I have some real, visual changes to share. We’ll be moving into the house at some point this summer, and while there is still much to do, the fun part is about to begin, which is the part where I get to decorate and add beauty to the rooms, walls and outdoor space that will make this home feel like the farmhouse, English cottage hybrid I’ve been envisioning.
Stay tuned as the summer unfolds for some design and decor updates! For now, here’s how the house has come along…
