Hey, there. I’m Dolores. Actually, my real name is Addolorata, a very old, Southern Italian name. I’m the daughter of two immigrants from Southern Italy who came to New York, where I was born, raised, and still live, after their wedding day. I’ve spent decades writing, editing, and podcasting, and my work always seems to gravitate toward trying to find ways to live more like a human, more slowly, and with more depth in a very hectic world. My podcast, “Bella Figura—The Tradition of Living Beauty,” features amazing guests from all types of cultural backgrounds who help me to explore the Italian tradition of “bella figura,” or presenting oneself well.

I like to write about tradition, old world style, ancestral inspiration, food—homegrown and from scratch—and am also a photographer whose photos tend to capture the same spirit. I’m a mother, a wife, a daughter, and I like to write about those things, too.

If you’ve laid in bed at night one too many times wondering if this is all there is, wondering why you feel something is missing, I got you. Join me for spiritual conversations for the rest of us. Join me in cultivating the tradition of living beautifully.
